CNC routing is a versatile multiple-operation process that allows for long aluminium extruded material to be machined to achieve distinct shapes and features.
Significant investment in two Mecal Kosmos routing machines enables us to process aluminium extrusions up to 6m long. Whilst the enclosed machine bed is 4m, the extrusion can be moved through the machines to enable longer lengths to be processed.
A combination of dynamic clamps and purpose made fixturing ensures that even complicated or awkward shaped extrusions can be secured allowing for consistent, repeatable machining operations to be performed. Extrusions with angled faces or features can also be accommodated as the machines can rotate to any given plane prior to processing.
Operations such as drilling, tapping, notching and slotting are easily programmed by the operator whereas more complex cut outs or machined features can be inputted from CAD files.
Additional features such as sheet nuts or studs are normally fitted by the operator whilst the next component is being machined therefore minimising manufacturing time.
As a leading UK aluminium CNC routing company, we offer machined extrusions and parts for a wide range of applications, including:
Whilst this isn’t an exhaustive list, many products that use aluminium extrusions requiring machining operations can be accommodated.
